On January 1,
2000 at 12:00 midday, most of the ringable bells in the UK were rung for at least 5
minutes to celebrate the dawn of the new millennium. In many churches this formed
part of a short act of worship. At Christchurch, ten people were able to ring both at midday and after the service.
